Trip to the LSHTM on November 24th

By December 16, 2014 No Comments

In the run up to ID, Debate and Global Health’s Ebola Debate, we took a trip to the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine to hear from Professor Peter Piot, co-discoverer of the Ebola virus, about the current Ebola epidemic. The talk was part of the Global Health Lecture Series (GHLS) at the LSHTM.

Needless to say, it was a highly fascinating and current event, with Professor Piot telling us about his background and the discovery of the devastating virus, as well as what the current efforts are to tackle the epidemic. It provided an excellent background to the prevailing crisis and gave us some good groundwork for our debate the week after! Lots of Medsoc members turned up to the LSHTM to hear from the Professor at this free event. Remember the LSHTM runs lots of free events every week about a range of diseases and problems across the world; just check out their website for more info!
